Venezolanos exiliados redactan "Manifiesto de Miami" Diario EnLaMira, January 13, 2013 http://diarioenlamira.com/venezolanos-exiliados-redactan-manifiesto-de-miami/ Exiled Venezuelans draft "Manifesto of Miami" A citizens assembly held in the Arepazo Original in the city of Miami on January 12 of this year, after hearing the analysis and proposals from attending Venezuelan citizens, agreed on the following points: 1. We absolutely do not recognize the de-facto regime that has been established in Venezuela, under an aberrant constitutional coup, that keeps usurping the power for individuals who have not been elected by the people. 2. We demand that all relevant efforts are made to obtain a faith of life of Mr. Hugo Chávez Frías, elected President of Venezuela, who to this date is not known to be dead or alive, and in case of being alive his real state of health is not known, which has given rise to arbitrary actions of his officials to stay illegitimatly in power. 3. We will make effective protests in Miami to express our rejection of the de-facto regime, taking into account the lack of legal representations of Venezuela at this latitude, so it agreed to make a protest next January 23rd at the Consulate of Nicaragua in Miami, in rejection to the insults of Daniel Ortega against Venezuelans who do not support the socialist revolution, the day of the swearing in absence of Hugo Chávez as President of the Republic. 4. Establish ties stronger than the existing ones with the sectors that hold protests in Venezuela because of the constitutional coup and get the information on their protests and abuses to which they are subjected by State security agencies, to request the collaboration of the Association of Venezuelan Journalists Abroad (Apevex) and achieving their dissemination in the media and international news agencies. 5. Make a call to the unity of criterion and national unity, to avoid the dispersing of the strenght of the actions carried out by the opposition both inside and outside of Venezuela, in that regard and to set the example proposed the conformation in Miami of a Parliament of Venezuelans abroad, which will consolidate in the coming weeks with the participation of all organizations that make life in Miami. 6. Make a call to the opposition in Venezuela to consolidate a National Democratic Grand Alliance to include all sectors of society, and will go beyond political parties and allow consolidating a solid platform of resistance to the pretensions of chavism kept in power through the illegitimate constitutional coup. 7. Ask U.S. authorities to check in more detail the political situation in Venezuela and conduct actions that allow respect for the norms and international agreements in the field of democracy and human rights, understanding that there is no democracy in Venezuela, but a de-facto regime. Relying on the members of Congress Ileana Ros Lethinen, Mario Díaz Balart and Joe García, to strengthen our requests.
